Mansfield finished a respectable 10th in League One last season following a strong run of form in the spring.
Nigel Clough's side got off to a winning start at the weekend as goals from Rhys Oates and Louis Reed helped them record a 2-1 victory at home to Doncaster Rovers.
Their attention now turns towards the group stage of the EFL Trophy where they have also been drawn alongside Chesterfield and Port Vale.
