OL Lyonnes host Chelsea in the Women's Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Since the early 2010s, Les Fenottes have consistently been one of the strongest outfits in Europe, winning the Champions League a record eight times, including an unprecedented six straight titles that arrived between 2015/16 and 2021/22.
However, they have relinquished their grip on the trophy in recent years and will be desperate to return to the top on the continent.
Their domestic dominance has continued though, in fact, Lyonnes have been crowned champions of France in all but one season since 2007. They have scored 22 goals in three matches so far this season, winning all three.
Chelsea have also started well under Sonia Bompastor, picking up 10 points from their opening four matches in the WSL. Last week, the Blues welcomed Austria Wien to the capital, getting off to the perfect start in Europe with a 1-0 victory.
Lauren James and former Lyonnes forward Melvine Malard have both impressed this term and should be in the frame to start on Wednesday night.
