Leinster begin their Champions Cup campaign away at French side Toulon on Saturday afternoon.
The visitors were beaten by Bordeaux Begles in the final of last season's European Champions Cup as their wait for an elusive fifth title continued.
Since beating Racing 92 to win the competition in 2017/18, Leinster have lost in the final five times.
Hosts Clermont face a tough opening assignment as they look to bounce back from a campaign which saw them lose all four of their European encounters.
The two teams have been drawn alongside Glasgow Warriors, Leicester Tigers, Pau and Sale Sharks in Pool 1.
