Anthony Gordon is on the verge of completing a dream move to Barcelona after the La Liga giants reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign the forward in a deal worth €80million.
The 25-year-old had been the subject of interest from Bayern Munich, but Barcelona have jumped to the front of the queue and acted swiftly to secure Gordon's services.
According to The Athletic, Gordon has agreed personal terms with the reigning Spanish champions and he will fly to the Catalan capital on Thursday to undergo a medical.
Gordon's transfer will mark the end of a three-year spell on Tyneside after he joined Newcastle from Everton in a £40m deal in January 2023.
The Liverpudlian scored 39 goals in 152 appearances for the Magpies, helping the club to achieve their first major trophy in 70 years with success in the 2024 League Cup final.
Gordon will become the fifth British player to represent Barcelona after Steve Archibald, Gary Lineker, Mark Hughes and his England team-mate Marcus Rashford, who he is set to accompany in the Three Lions' pursuit of World Cup glory this summer.
It's been widely reported in Spanish publications that Gordon will earn approximately £300,000-a-week with the Catalan club.
The figure is more than double what Gordon was earning at Newcastle after he signed a long-term contract extension with the club in October 2024.
Gordon will reportedly be amongst the highest earners in the Barcelona squad, ranking behind only Frenkie de Jong.
Robert Lewandowski was one of the top earners in Hansi Flick's squad, but the Polish striker is set to depart the Nou Camp upon the expiration of his contract this summer.
