There's no doubt that the stakes are significantly high for the two teams battling it out at this weekend's Super Bowl, but for fans wishing to take in the action live, ticket prices are significantly higher.

Astoundingly, the average price to secure a seat in California on Sunday night is a mind-boggling $10,000 - YES, JUST UNDER £7,500!

At the time of writing, on Thursday 5th February, the cheapest resale tickets available come out at just over $5,000, although they are right in the upper echelons of the San Francisco 49ers home stadium.

What's the most expensive ticket price for Super Bowl LX?

For a more sought after spot, you are looking at around $15,000 whilst a VIP spot, with an eyeline view of the field, comes in at a staggering $59.290 (£44,000).

It's safe to say that the Super Bowl isn't designed for the modern day working man or woman.

How much would it cost for a UK fan to travel to Super Bowl LX?

  • Super Bowl LX average ticket price - £7,500

A typical ticket at resale value, direct flights to and from California from London and a two night stay in a three star hotel in Santa Clara comes in at around $1000 at the time of writing.

Don't forget, that's not including spending money.

Why are Super Bowl tickets so expensive?

Simply put, supply and demand!

The Super Bowl is undoubtedly the hottest ticket in town, and with thousands of celebrities and influencers from around the world happy to pay massive amounts of money to secure themselves a spot, it makes the event far less affordable for the majority of other NFL fans.

Whilst there will be around 70,000 spectators inside the venue, a large proportion of those will be distributed to players, coaches and others tied to the sport, including the league's many corporate sponsors - some of whom receive up to 500 tickets as part of their agreements.

Super Bowl tickets are also unable to be purchased by the general public, meaning resale tickets, which are typically available on Ticketmaster, are significantly inflated.

Will Super Bowl tickets come down in price closer to the game itself?

In a nutshell, no, tickets won't drop in price.

The odd fan may drop on a slightly cheaper ticket if they land on a ticket resale site at the opportune time, although for the vast majority of people wishing to splash the cash and take in the NFL spectacle, prices will remain at a similar price throughout game week.

“The Super Bowl is always one of the most sought-after events in sports, and this year’s matchup is no exception," Chris Leyden, Director of Growth Marketing at SeatGeek, said this week.

"At this point, average resale prices are coming in slightly lower than where they were at the same time last year, giving fans a bit more flexibility as they plan their trip to Santa Clara.

"We’re also seeing strong interest from both coasts, with fans from the Pacific Northwest leading the way so far. As we get closer to kickoff, we expect prices to continue moving slightly as the market responds to demand."

Do celebrities get free Super Bowl tickets?

Some do, some don't - it all depends who they know.

Anybody with a connection to a team owner or marquee player will be able to get a free ticket courtesy of their connection, but for the vast majority of stars who simply just want to be there, they will have to pay.

A star-studded cast are expected in California this weekend, with actors, actresses, music sensations as well as high-profile sports stars all set to be in attendance.

The vast majority will have had to pay their way into the stadium.
