Rodri further cemented himself as one of the best midfielders of all time when captaining Spain to World Cup glory on Sunday.
The Manchester City star was outstanding again, controlling the World Cup Final against Argentina from the middle of the park, orchestrating his country's relentless passing moves that eventually broke the South Americans down.
Spain totally dominated in New Jersey but were left frustrated as Argentina defended superbly, having to wait until early in the second period of extra-time before substitute Ferran Torres struck the decisive goal.
During the celebrations, it was Rodri who lifted the trophy as captain, with this generation of Spanish players adding the biggest prize of them all to their 2022/23 Nations League and Euro 2024 triumphs.
The victory in New Jersey marked Spain's second World Cup crown, 16 years after they first became world champions in South Africa.
Rodri's superb individual displays were recognised as he won the Golden Ball, the prize given to the best player at the tournament.
Overall, the 30-year-old has won 14 trophies during spells with Atletico Madrid and Manchester City, and three prizes with Spain.
Individually, he has also been named Player of the Season and Club World Cup Golden Ball winner (both 2023), Euro 2024 Player of the Tournament and Ballon d'Or winner (both 2024) and World Cup Golden Ball winner (2026).
Rodri joins elite club
Rodri is now part of an exclusive seven-strong club of players who have lifted all of football's top prizes - the World Cup, UEFA Champions League, Continental trophy (European Championships or Copa America) and the Ballon d'Or.
As referenced in a post on X by Fabrizio Romano, the Spain skipper joins German legends Franz Beckenbauer and Gerd Muller, Brazilian pair Ronaldinho and Rivaldo, French superstar Zinedine Zidane and Argentina captain Lionel Messi to have won all four trophies.
The 30-year-old ran the show for La Roja two summers ago when they won the Euros, beating England in the final. Despite being withdrawn through injury at half-time in the final, Rodri was also named player of the tournament.
The Ballon d'Or followed later that year, recognising the best player in the world, while Rodri also scored the only goal when City beat Inter Milan in the 2023 UEFA Champions League final, helping him to win that season's Player of the Season award for that competition.
Four-time Premier League champion
The list of Rodri's achievements does not end there, though, as the midfielder is a four-time Premier League winner with City, being a key part of Pep Guardiola's all-conquering side who finished top of the pile in England in 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The FA Cup is also on his honours list, having won that twice with City in 2023 and 2026, while he's lifted the League Cup three times, in 2020, 2021 and 2026.
The list keeps growing as Rodri also tasted glory when winning the Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup with City in 2023, the Community Shield in 2019, while he even had his hands on a trophy before he moved to the Premier League, helping former side Atletico Madrid win the UEFA Super Cup in 2018.
