Bangladesh have shocked the cricketing world by storming to a nine-wicket win against Australia in Darwin.
The Tigers were superb in their first visit down under in 23 years, dominating the match from start to finish with Bangladesh batter Hossain Shanto describing it as their "biggest win in any format".
After bowling Australia out for 284 in the second innings, Bangladesh required just 57 runs to win the match; Mominul Haque hitting the winning runs at the Marrara Oval.
Sunday's famous victory was just the SECOND time Bangladesh have ever defeated Australia in a Test match.
It was their first win in the country, on just their third attempt. The Tigers did beat the Aussies on home soil seven years ago, however, this latest success is as dominant as it gets, made more impressive by the fact that their opponents are the number one side in the world.
It was the seventh time that the two have faced off in the Test arena; Australia victorious in six of those meetings.
Bangladesh have had slightly more success in white-ball cricket against the Australians but the record is still overwhelming in Australia's favour.
In 25 ODIs, Australia have come out on top 21 times, with Bangladesh winning three. The Tigers have won four of the 14 T20I meetings between the pair too.
The second and final Test of the series begins on Saturday 22nd August in Mackay where, despite suffering defeat in the opener, will be heavy favourites to turn the tables.
