Czech goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky is set to return to the Tottenham starting XI in the absence of Guglielmo Vicario.
Prior to their Premier League clash with Nottingham Forest, Tottenham confirmed that first choice stopper Vicario will undergo surgery on a hernia.
A statement read:
"The minor procedure for the Italy international goalkeeper has been timed to have as minimal an impact on our season as possible.
"Guglielmo will commence his rehabilitation with our medical staff immediately, and it is hoped that he could return to action within the next month."
Despite revealing that the Italian will undergo surgery, Vicario did start in Spurs' contest against fellow relegation candidates Nottingham Forest on Sunday, though he didn't cover himself in glory.
Igor Tudor's side lost 3-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in a result that significantly reduces their Premier League survival hopes, with Vicario coming under scrutiny for failing to stop Morgan Gibbs-White's tame effort that extended the visitors' lead to two goals in the second half.
Vicario's absence will likely see Kinsky return to the XI for the first time since being substituted after just 17 minutes in the first round of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash against Atletico Madrid on Tuesday 10th March.
Despite a series of errors from Kinsky at the Wanda Metropolitano, it was Tudor's ruthlessness that captured the headlines and a number of the goalkeeper's Spurs teammates were quick to offer their condolences after his early withdrawal.
Should Vicario recover from surgery in a month, the time frame provided by Tottenham, then we can expect Kinsky to start in his side's Premier League fixtures against Sunderland (12th April) and Brighton (18th April).
This would likely see Vicario return to the XI for their trip to Molineux on 25th April, where they will face Rob Edwards' relegation-bound Wolverhampton Wanderers.
It's key to note that Tottenham aim to have the Italian available "within" the next month however, and so a swift recovery may even see Vicario return to the side for their North London outing against Brighton on 18th April.
While we expect Kinsky to be trusted in the absence of Vicario, third choice goalkeeper Brandon Austin, who has made just three senior appearances for Tottenham, is available for selection and could be considered by Tudor.
