Horses to win two Grand Nationals following I Am Maximus victory

I Am Maximus has become just the eighth horse to win more than one Grand National following his victory in the 2026 race.

The 9/2 favourite followed up his win in the 2024 Grand National by defying top weight to win the 2026 renewal.

Remarkably, he also finished second in the 2025 race and his Grand National record is amongst the best of all-time.

In the process, I Am Maximus has become the first horse since Red Rum to regain the Grand National.

Red Rum remains the horse with the most Grand National wins and I Am Maximus could tie with him if he wins the 2027 race.

After a 41-year wait, Red Rum became the sixth horse to win multiple Grand Nationals when he triumphed in 1974.

Tiger Roll was next to achieve the feat in 2019 and Willie Mullins' horse has now joined the elite club.
