There are six meetings set to take place across Britain and Ireland on Wednesday with an equal split of three afternoon fixtures and three evening cards
Racing Post tipster Marcus Buckland has provided three recommendations for the day’s action, with selections from Ayr, Gowran Park and Kempton.
14:12 Ayr - Summerstorms Dream @ 9/2
17:45 Gowran Park - Fleur De Provence @ SP
20:00 Kempton - Rock Iguana @ 6/1
14:12 Ayr - Summerstorms Dream @ 9/2
Jim Goldie saddles three in this and likely holds the key. After some deliberation, I’m most keen on the chances of Summerstorms Dream, who shaped encouragingly when third on her seasonal return over course and distance a fortnight ago.
The four-year-old has had only six starts to date and, although yet to score, she’s performed well on each of her three handicap outings at this venue, twice running to Racing Post Ratings in excess of her current official mark of 48, including on her reappearance when she ran to a figure of 52.
She was keen early on last time, but she still saw her race out strongly to be beaten only a length-and-three-quarters.
She’ll strip fitter for that and, whilst Lauren Young prefers the yard’s Doon The Glen, Rhys Elliott is a more than able deputy.
17:45 Gowran Park - Fleur De Provence @ SP
Dermot Weld hasn’t had a winner in the past fortnight, but he’s had several hit the crossbar, and I’m expecting a big run from the once-raced Fleur De Provence.
A half-sister to four individual winners, the best of them being Group-placed mile scorer Eternal Silence, the daughter of Gleneagles looked to have inherited plenty of ability when finishing a never-nearer second of 10 on her debut as Naas on soft ground in March.
She ran to a Racing Post Rating of 82 on that occasion, a figure good enough to win a large portion of races at this level.
That put her ahead of the vastly experienced Sanctijude, whilst Bofa Beach is feared on her Curragh maiden form, she’s been off for 235 days and has to prove she’s trained.
20:00 Kempton - Rock Iguana @ 6/1
This looks competitive, but Kevin Phillipart De Foy’s Rock Iguana posted a career best on his seasonal return over 7f at Southwell last month and may well have more to come with fitness now on his side.
The four-year-old gelding enjoyed a solid three-year-old campaign, winning over 6f at Southwell in a first-time hood and generally running to a similar level in defeat subsequently, barring one disappointing effort at Salisbury.
He recorded a Racing Post Rating of 85 when finding only one too good back at Southwell on his comeback, but he’s been left alone on 81 by the official handicapper and could well take advantage.
The son of Wotton Bassett remains open to plenty more improvement on just his third start over this distance.
