It’s a bumper day of racing with seven cards taking place in Britain and Ireland on Friday.
The Racing Post’s Phill Anderson has picked out three selections for the best of the action from across the card.

The round course at Musselburgh often plays to the strengths of front-runners, particularly in races without a lot of pace, and there’s a chance that Jonny Concrete could be hard to reel in if Jack Nicholls can get him across to the rail from stall nine, with his main pace rival (Eagle Bay) drawn outside of him in 11.
The five-year-old has been in the form of his life so far this campaign, and returned to his very best with a success on the Knavesmire last month after a series of narrow defeats.
A 2lb rise for that competitive handicap win looks on the lenient side from the assessor and it’s an effort worth marking up having raced very close to a strong pace.
He’s a previous course and distance winner, too, so the switch to a tighter track could suit even better, particularly without a lot of pace in opposition and his rider is good value for the 3lb he’s still able to claim.
16:54 Musselburgh - Monhammer @ 9/4
The finale at Musselburgh looks like a good opportunity for Monhammer to gain another course success.
Three of Monhammer’s five career wins have come over this course and distance, including a head success over re-opposing Misemerald last week.
That rival is better off at the weights but she’s on a long losing run since 2023, and never really gave the impression she was going to go past Monhammer here seven days ago.
Even with a 4lb penalty to carry, Linda Perratt’s gelding is very well treated on old form having dropped to a basement mark and Paul Mulrennan taking over from an apprentice can be considered an upgrade.
The yard are also in cracking form, running at a 50% strike-rate in recent weeks (five winners from last ten runners at the time of writing) and this veteran looks capable of going back-to-back.
20:38 Haydock - Distinct Spirit @ 10/3
In Haydock’s final race on Friday, another last-time-out winner looks to have strong claims of going in again.
Distinct Spirit has really kicked on this campaign, shaping with promise in handicaps earlier in the season before back-to-back successes at Ffos Las and Lingfield.
He was good value for the two-length winning margin at Lingfield last time out and, while that was only a three-runner contest, he beat another progressive rival in good enough style.
Crucially, however, Distinct Spirit escapes a penalty for that apprentice handicap success, meaning he’s 5lb well-in here and this race doesn’t appear to have a great amount of depth.
Therefore, it looks like he’ll be hard to beat if he’s in the same form.
