There are eight meetings scheduled across Britain and Ireland on Saturday, with six afternoon cards to look forward to, followed by another two evening fixtures.
Racing Post tipster, Adrian Wall, has provided three recommendations for the day’s action at the Curragh, with the Irish 2,000 Guineas the feature on the card.
15:05 Curragh - Marvelmen @ 17/2
16:50 Curragh - Gavoo @ 9/2
17:25 Curragh - Aviatrice @ 7/1
15:05 Curragh - Marvelmen @ 17/2
British raiders have tasted tremendous success in the Greenlands Stakes over the years and are on a bit of a run at present, winning the last four renewals. Marvelman could extend that run of form for trainer Andrew Balding with PJ McDonald taking the ride.
The son of Invincible Spirit raced at between 7f and the mile last year, his highlight being when he landed the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster in September, a race that saw him take up the running early on and never look like being caught.
He showed a lot of speed that day so the drop to 6f shouldn't be an issue. He raced far too keenly in Group 1 company at Ascot in October and was poor in the Middle East on his seasonal return, but he will sport a first-time hood at the Curragh and should strip much fitter.
16:50 Curragh - Gavoo @ 9/2
Unfortunately there is no value to be had in the Irish 2,000 Guineas as Gstaad is set to go off a very warm favourite, so my next fancy of the day is the David Marnane-trained Gavoo in the 7f handicap under Luke McAteer.
A Listowel maiden winner last summer over the extended 6f, he disappointed in the Coventry at Royal Ascot, but then ran a good race at this track in a 6f handicap when a running-on third.
Gavoo gained a second career win over 6f at Dundalk in November to round off his year, and he shaped very encouragingly on his return over 6f at Naas a fortnight ago when a close-up fourth. He needs considering for this race.
17:25 Curragh - Aviatrice @ 7/1
My hopes of a good day are firmly pinned on David Marnane having a successful Saturday as I also think Aviatrice is a solid each-way bet in the competitive 6f handicap, again under Luke McAteer.
Although all three of her wins have been on the all-weather at Dundalk, she hit the frame in a course-and-distance handicap last August before finishing second over 1m at Leopardstown, so she clearly handles turf.
Aviatrice arrives bidding for a hat-trick as she rounded off last year with an emphatic 7f handicap win at Dundalk before winning a Listed event there over 1m. The runner-up Jancis has since won a Group 2 at Newmarket.

Adrian Wall landed an excellent Nap of the Day on Thursday with Shadow Paddy (backed from 8/1 into 9/4) bolting up in a beginners’ chase at Limerick.
