Four-time Royal Ascot-winning jockey Hayley Turner is in no doubt that Constitution Hill will be competitive in Group company on the level.
The one-time Champion Hurdler made the switch from Jumps to Flat earlier this season, scoring in novice company at both Southwell and Kempton.
Nicky Henderson's charge was entered in the John Porter at Newbury at the beginning on April, but connections opted not to run, instead favouring an Autumn campaign where he will go in search of softer ground.
He is a tantalising prospect when he does return later this year, with his performances so far indicating that he may have what it takes to make the step up into pattern company.
Turner, who won two European Group 1 races as a rider, was positive on whether or not Constitution Hill can make the grade at Group level, saying: “I think he can!
“He’s got it all to prove when you when you look at it on the ratings, however, he can do no more than what he’s done already.
Turner's brace of Group 1 successes came aboard Dream Ahead and Margot Did in the July Cup and Nunthorpe respectively. Although Constitution Hill will be racing at distances well in excess of that, Turner has been impressed by the speed that he has shown on his two Flat starts.
“He’s shown that turn of foot that a lot of jump horses don’t have and he’s shown no signs of stopping yet," Turner said.
Saturday's bet365 Jump Finale saw Constitution Hill paraded in front of his adoring fans, but this is likely the last time that he will see the track for a good few months, according to his handler.
"I had a long chat with Ryan Moore yesterday, The horse has been on the go since September and he has got to have a holiday," Henderson explained.
"I should think it's probably better for him to have that now, rather than later, so he can be ready for an early autumn campaign."
This Autumn will look entirely different to what the nine-year-old has been used to throughout his career. Ordinarily, the cooler months would see him begin work for a run in the Fighting Fifth Hurdle, however, connections will now be eyeing up something like the Cumberland Lodge at Ascot during the first weekend of October.
