Jupiter Links GC 15/4 for TGL glory after Tiger Woods return

The wait is finally over for Tiger Woods' return to competitive action, after he confirmed he will be teeing it up for Jupiter Links GC in Match 2 of the TGL Finals.

Woods witnessed his Jupiter team suffer a 6-5 loss to Los Angeles Golf Club in Match 1 of the SoFi Cup Finals, leaving his side 1-0 down in the best-of-three series.

The 50-year-old American will replace Kevin Kisner for Match 2, with the 15-time Major winner, Max Homa and Tom Kim going into battle against LA's trio of Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Rose and Sahith Theegala.

Although Woods is back in the fold, Jupiter are still the outsiders at 15/4 to win the TGL, with Los Angeles the heavy favourites at 2/11 to come out on top.

Woods not giving up hope of TGL glory

Woods has not featured on tour since missing the cut at the 2024 Open and undergoing back surgery last October.

The 82-time PGA Tour winner had been hopeful of returning to action for Jupiter in the TGL and he will now get the chance to try and help his side level the series and force a decider.

Speaking after the Match 1 defeat, Woods said, as quoted by Sky Sports: "We were in a playoff once, and this was damn near there.

"Unfortunately, it didn't happen, but we have possibly two more matches. We're not out of this. Even with a loss we're still not out of it."

Fleetwood gives Jupiter respect

Englishman Fleetwood admits his side may have been fortunate to take a 1-0 lead in the series and he praised just how difficult a team Jupiter are to go up against.

"I feel like we got away with one today," he said. "They're a good team. They're a tough team. I feel like I want to give them a lot of credit for the unit that they are."

Woods return sparks Masters hope

If Woods is able to compete without feeling any discomfort, then the possibility of him playing in the Masters at Augusta National could very well increase.

It would obviously be a big step up in level, going from the TGL which is played indoors and requires very little walking, to taking on one of the most revered courses in the world against the best players in the game.

Woods was asked about a possible appearance at Georgia last week but he gave little away about his chances.

"I said I've been working on it. Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disc replacement is not a lot of fun," he said.

"So as I said, I've had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn't quite heal like it was when I was 24. Doesn't quite bounce back. So I have good days when I can pretty much do anything, and other days where it's hard to just move around."

Woods can be backed at 200/1 to win the Masters for the sixth time next month, while 180/1 is available with eight each-way places and it is 150/1 when taking 10 places.
