Memorial Tournament Prediction and Tips

A top-class field has assembled at Muirfield Village for this week’s Memorial Tournament - the seventh Signature Event of the season - and the Racing Post’s Steve Palmer has three selections to follow.

World number one Scottie Scheffler skipped last week's Charles Schwab Challenge, but finished third in the CJ Cup Byron Nelson the previous week, continuing a streak of near-misses.

Since winning The American Express on his first start of 2026, golf's top dog has finished second three times and third twice.

Scheffler can be backed to complete the Memorial hat-trick at 10/3 in bet365's enhanced win-only market. He is 16/5 with each-way terms of a quarter the odds, the first five places. There are five different sets of each-way terms available with bet365 - and different odds for all of them.

Scheffler is 3/1 with terms of a fifth the odds, the first eight, while the Texas-based superstar can be backed at 14/5 with 10 places and 11/4 with 12. Punters seeking bigger odds on Scheffler can get 9/2 if accepting each-way terms of a fifth the odds, the first three places.

Rory McIlroy has never won the Memorial and he skipped the event last year. The Masters champion has been extremely inaccurate off the tee lately, so will need to straighten his drives if he is to justify the support of anyone who backs him at 10/1 this week.

Ludvig Aberg has been a popular wager this week, but the Swede got worse each day at Colonial last week, carding rounds of 66, 68, 69, 71, finishing 17th in the low-grade Charles Schwab Challenge. He is 14/1 for Memorial glory.

Cameron Young has a poor Memorial record, but has been in the form of his life this season, so will have his backers at 14/1 this week.

Memorial Tournament Tips Summary

Memorial Prediction

Best Bet: Scottie Scheffler to win @ 10/3

With only 71 players to beat at Muirfield Village this week, Scottie Scheffler looks a bargain at 10/3 in bet365's enhanced win-only market. He seems by far the most likely winner.

Scheffler finished third in the Byron Nelson last time out, but that was on an easy course which levelled the playing field. Wyndham Clark triumphed with a red-hot putter. Muirfield Village is a much greater all-round examination of a player's quality and the world number one can assert his superiority.

Long and straight off the tee, deadly on approach, and coming off a hugely encouraging putting performance at the Byron Nelson, Scheffler looks primed for a huge summer of success.

Memorial form figures of 22-3-3-1-1 highlight how Scheffler has become the dominant force at Muirfield Village in the modern era and he should be shaking hands with tournament host Jack Nicklaus again on Sunday evening.

Alternative Bet: Adam Scott to win and each-way @ 55/1

The 55/1 about Adam Scott in the five-place market looks a bargain. The former Masters champion is second on the PGA Tour's strokes-gained on approach statistics and has twice finished fourth in Signature Events this season - at Riviera and Doral.

Scott has four top-fives at Memorial on his CV and he is swinging as well as ever this season.

Alternative Bet: Taylor Pendrith to win and each-way @ 80/1

Taylor Pendrith can be backed at 80/1 in the each-way market with 12 places. He went to college in Ohio and has progressive Memorial form figures of 60-33-12.

Driving well, showing promise with his irons, and fresh from a strong putting performance in the US PGA, Pendrith may be ready to further improve his Memorial record and contend for the title at juicy odds.

Key Memorial Stats
