Genesis Championship Prediction and Tips

Just three tournaments remain on the DP World Tour season with this week's action heading to South Korea for the Genesis Championship, which is the final event of the 'Back 9' swing.

This is the last chance the players have to secure their card for the 2027 DP World Tour season, with the top 100 in the Race to Dubai rankings after the Genesis securing playing privileges.

There is also the small matter of the leading 70 in the R2D standings qualifying for the first play-off event, the Abu Dhabi Championship, which starts at Yas Links GC on 5th November.

Genesis Championship Tips Summary

Best Bet - Thomas Detry to win and each-way @ 18/1
Alternative Bet - Sungjae Im to win and each-way @ 8/1
Alternative Bet - Nacho Elvira to win and each-way @ 40/1

Genesis Championship Prediction

Best Bet: Thomas Detry to win and each-way @ 18/1

Thomas Detry is expected to be one of several players who will turn down the chance to sign terms with LIV 2.0 and he will have his sights on making the first play-off event at Yas Links GC next month.

The Belgian is ranked 87th in the Race to Dubai standings, which is good enough to secure his card for the 2027 season, but he still has some work to do to finish 70th or better by the end of this week.

Plenty of R2D points are on offer, with 835 going to the winner, so Detry knows a win would secure his top-70 spot and there is the suggestion he can land his maiden DP World Tour title.

The 33-year-old, who won the 2025 Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour, has put in some solid performances over the last few weeks, finishing tied 20th at the Open de France, eighth at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship and tied ninth at the DP World India Championship on Sunday.

Woo Jeong Hills CC is a long track at 7,367 yards and Detry has plenty of power off the tee, averaging 303.51 yards, while he is still one of the classiest iron players in the game.

A strong putter is crucial to success at this venue and Detry is one of the strongest with the flat sticks, as he is seventh in strokes gained putting and 10th in putts per round on the DP circuit.

With a tied-seventh finish on his Genesis debut last year, the world number 90 has already shown a liking for this test and he looks a big threat this week.

Alternative Bet: Sungjae Im to win and each-way @ 8/1

It has been a lean time for Sungjae Im when it comes to wins, with his last coming at the 2024 Woori Financial Group Championship on the Korean Tour, but that could all change this week playing on home soil.

The South Korean has been churning out consistent results for the past couple of months, with a tied-15th finish at the Rocket Classic his worst result in the last six starts.

Since that top 15, Im has posted a T14 at the Wyndham Championship, a top five at the St. Jude Championship, a T10 at the BMW Championship, a T9 at the Baycurrent Classic and a runners-up effort at the Macao Open.

The world number 60 has been excellent on the greens, ranking 19th in strokes gained putting on the PGA Tour, and the signs suggest he will be in with a chance of winning.

Alternative Bet: Nacho Elvira to win and each-way @ 40/1

Another player to watch out for this week is Nacho Elvira, who finished tied second alongside Laurie Canter in last year's edition and returns off the back of a strong display.

The Spaniard was tied 15th in India and he was superb from tee to green over the four days, as he ranked second in strokes gained in that department and fourth off the tee.

A cold putter was the limiting club and that was a surprise given Elvira ranks third in one putts, seventh in putts per round and 10th in putts per green in regulation on the DP World Tour.

If he can get back to his usual self on the greens, Elvira should be a contender this week.
