Gloucester Rugby announce capture of 124kg Samoan international

Having already secured the signing of a number of international stars for next season, Gloucester Rugby have continued to add to their squad ahead of next season.

Their latest acquisition, Marco Fepulea’i, will join the club ahead of the 2026/27 season, to offer stronger depth in the tight-head position.

Fepulea'i will make the move to the Gallagher Prem from Pro D2 side Mont-de-Marsan, where he spent the second half of last season, having earned himself a spot in Samoa's squad for the World Rugby Nations Cup.

An eight-cap international, the New Zealand born prop came through at Super Rugby Pacific side the Blues, before making the switch to the US to compete in the MLR and eventually making his move to France in 2022.

The 31 year-old started the 2025/26 campaign as a medical joker for Top 14 side Bayonne, making five appearances domestically and in the European Rugby Champions Cup, before dropping down to the French second tier.

Speaking on his decision to move to the Cherry and Whites, Marco Fepulea’i said: “I’m delighted to be joining the Club and making the move to the Gallagher PREM. It’s a huge step in my career and I’m excited to test myself in a new league."

“I can’t wait to get started at Gloucester Rugby. My focus is on working hard, earning the respect of the coaches, players and supporters, and contributing to the team."

On the style of play Gloucester fans can expect from him, the Samoan international said: “I pride myself on being physical on both sides of the ball, and I believe that’s something I can bring to the group.”

Gloucester Head Coach George Skivington said: “It’s no secret we’ve been looking to add experienced depth at tight‑head, so we’re really pleased to get this deal done."

“We want our pack to have real physicality and edge next season, and Marco brings exactly that - presence, power and set‑piece strength. He’ll be a great addition" he continued.

Gloucester finished eighth in the Gallagher Prem last season, thanks to a 54-21 win over Newcastle on the final day, ensuring that they would compete in the Champions Cup again for next season.
