Ex-Arsenal star completes move away from the Emirates

Former Arsenal winger Reiss Nelson has agreed to join Eredivisie side Feyenoord on a one-year deal.

Nelson was one of the longest-serving players in north London and was handed his senior debut by then-Gunners boss Arsene Wenger nearly a decade ago.

After finding himself surplus to requirements in recent years, Arsenal announced last week that they had mutually agreed to terminate his contract 12 months early to allow him to depart for pastures new.

The 26-year-old is said to have had a number of admirers, with Benfica repeatedly linked with a move over the summer, while both Fulham and West Ham were reportedly monitoring his situation.

However, Nelson has ultimately opted to return to Feyenoord, with Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side announcing the move on social media.

Nelson spent the 2021-22 campaign on loan at De Kuip and made 32 appearances over the course of the season as club reached the final of the inaugural UEFA Conference League.

They finished second in the Dutch top flight last season under the stewardship of former Gunners striker Robin van Persie.

Following Nelson's exit fellow Hale End graduate Bukayo Saka is now Arsenal's longest-serving player.

Nelson departs his boyhood club having made 90 senior appearances in all competitions and was part of the 2020 FA Cup-winning side.
