Norwich City boss Philippe Clement is preparing for the start of the Championship season without Kellen Fisher and Jovon Makama, with both set for spells on the sidelines after sustaining injuries.
Full-back Fisher, 22, missed the friendly against Wimbledon in midweek due to an ankle injury sustained in training.
Makama was unavailable for that game and the 3-0 win over St Gallen in Switzerland after taking a knock to his foot during the behind-closed-doors friendly against Colchester earlier this month.
Fisher is expected to spend six weeks on the sidelines, while Makama is expected to miss four weeks with his problem.
Norwich begin their Championship season at home to West Brom on 15th August, with friendlies to come against Fulham, Osasuna and Cambridge United, as well as an EFL Cup clash with MK Dons at Carrow Road between now and then.
On current timeframes, Makama could be back in training before the Baggies visit Norfolk in the middle of August, while Fisher is battling to get back for further assignments against Millwall and Burnley in the opening month of the domestic season.
Ahead of the game at Wimbledon, Makama was pictured wearing a protective boot, with Fisher's omission from that contest coming less than 24 hours after reports of Premier League interest from Hull City in the talented Canaries defender.
Both problems stem from contact injuries, which will come as some relief to Canaries fans after the squad suffered a run of muscular and soft-tissue problems last season.
It is, however, the latest setback for Clement as the former Rangers gaffer gets set for his first full season at Carrow Road, having arrived in November last year and steered the club to a top-half finish.
The Canaries, who are 6/1 to be promoted this season, were second from bottom of the Championship when he was appointed, but won 19 games under Clement to finish ninth. The Belgian signed a deal with Norwich through to the summer of 2029.
Norwich City owner Mark Attanasio told the BBC in May that Clement is a "special manager" and suggested the club's focus in the coming season would be on "how to get the team into the top two" in the Championship.
The news on Fisher and Makama comes just a week after Lucien Mahovo suffered ankle ligament damage in the Colchester game. The 21-year-old full-back is expected to be sidelined for three months.
Following last season's problems with muscular and soft-tissue injuries, Norwich have this summer undergone changes in their medical and sports science departments, with the appointments of Dr Paul Ford, Andrew Proctor and Dr Pippa Bennett reported to be aimed at reducing non-contact absences in the squad.
Fisher joined the Canaries from Bromley and has gone on to make over 100 appearances in three seasons. Reports that the club had rejected a £5m offer from Premier League new boys Hull City have been denied.
Clement told the Pink 'Un there "hasn't been any bid for a player in the club until now that I can tell" when reports of a bid for Fisher were put to him, before adding: "The only thing I can say I don't want anybody to go who can be a starting XI player."
Norwich's pre-season prep saw three of the five players who featured in the 2026 FIFA World Cup returning to training on Monday, with Kenny McLean, Jose Cordoba and Anis Ben Slimane all reunited with the squad.
