West Ham United v Wrexham Prediction: 11/8 Bowen to fire for Hammers again

West Ham haven't wasted much time to rise towards the top of the Championship and the Hammers will expect to see off Wrexham at the London Stadium on Friday night.

The Hammers were touted as Championship title contenders over the summer and the way the table is shaping up suggests Nuno Espirito Santo's men will be the team to beat in the second tier this season.

They host a Red Dragons side who have won just one of their first six games, although four draws point to a solidity in the Welsh side's ranks.

West Ham United v Wrexham Prediction

Best Bet: West Ham to win and both teams to score @ 21/10

The Irons look to be the strongest side in the Championship, which may come as no surprise after their relegation from the top tier and a summer in which they have managed to keep some of their key men.

They moved top on Tuesday after a 3-2 win at Bolton, although West Brom have since knocked them off their lofty perch after the Baggies saw off Derby 1-0 the following evening.

Nuno's side have won three of their first six, drawn two, and lost only to Charlton, and they will be confident in seeing off a Wrexham side that have won just once while being held to four draws in the opening month.

The hosts should have the quality to come out on top, but they are unlikely to keep a clean sheet, given the Hammers have only registered one shutout - in last weekend's 3-0 win over Derby.

The Londoners have conceded nine in their six matches and looked shaky at the back at times in midweek when the Trotters breached them twice.

Furthermore, an away goal looks likely in the capital as Wrexham, who picked up a creditable point in a 1-1 draw with another of the relegated sides, Burnley, on Tuesday, have hit seven in six outings in the second tier.

Alternative Bet: Jarrod Bowen to score anytime @ 11/8

Jarrod Bowen is probably the best player in the Championship with the Hammers doing well to keep hold of the England international over the summer following their drop down a division.

Bowen has started the campaign well, hitting five goals and getting three assists across eight games in all competitions, and he will fancy his chances of adding to his tally on Friday after he helped himself to a brace at Bolton.

The forward has had 19 shots in his last five games, so he is clearly in good nick early in the campaign and will have the quality and know-how to trouble the Welsh side's defence on Friday.

West Ham United v Wrexham Bet Builder Tip

  • West Ham to win

  • Over 3.5 goals

  • Pablo Felipe 2+ shots on target

    Pays @ 8/1

The starter for this Bet Builder is for a home win with West Ham favourites to flex their muscles again in the Championship and see off a Wrexham side struggling for victories.

Adding in at least four goals on the night is the next selection with West Ham the joint-top-scorers in the second tier with 14 goals, while Nuno's side are also conceding plenty, having shipped nine in their first six of the season.

Wrexham have scored seven goals in the league, so are hardly prolific, but they are still averaging just over a goal per-game and can contribute to what should be a high-scoring affair at the London Stadium.

Pablo Felipe may again be asked to lead the line for the hosts with Taty Castellanos still an injury doubt with a hamstring strain, and the Brazilian is fancied to have at least two shots on target.

Although yet to score, Pablo has been energetic and on the hunt for goals, and can build on the one shot he managed on target on Tuesday.
