Former West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray could be set for another spell in charge of the club as the Baggies try to avoid relegation this season.
The Baggies remain in the fight to stay in the Championship and are just one point and one place above the bottom three.
West Brom's poor goal difference means they would drop into the relegation zone if Leicester City were to move level with them on 35 points.
The Baggies fans voiced their dismay once again on Saturday as they fell to a 2-1 defeat to fellow relegation rivals Oxford United.
They were led by interim coach James Morrison, who had vowed not to "feel the pressure", but he confirmed at full-time that some home truths were shared in the dressing room as he now looks for a response from his players.
He told the club's official website: "We said in the week what their game plan would be and we just let it happen. It's not acceptable. It's been a problem all season and we've got to, somehow, quickly get rid of that problem.
There were words in the dressing room after the game, but I want what was said to remain in the dressing room. There were some harsh words, but there has to be. You can see that I'm frustrated. That was a big game for us today.
"The supporters have every right to show their frustration. We feel that frustration. I don't want to use the clichés of sticking together or anything like that. They come in their numbers to support us and it's up to us to turn it around. We have a week of work between now and our next game and we will be working."
West Brom are not in action again until Saturday when they face Sheffield United, but reports from Football Insider suggest it may not be Morrison in the Baggies' dugout.
The club's board are looking for an experienced head to steer them to safety and former boss Mowbray is their preferred choice.
Preliminary talks have been held in the last few days after the club sacked Eric Ramsay on Tuesday, after just nine games in charge.
West Brom are hoping to offer Mowbray a short-term contract until the end of the season, with the veteran coach believed to be willing to step in and make Mark Venus his assistant.
Mowbray has had two spells as Baggies boss, most recently just last year, when he was only given 17 games.
The former Middlesbrough coach won five of those matches between January and April, while in his three-year spell between October 2006 and June 2009, he won 57 of his 140 games in charge.
West Brom's board are up against it for the next few days as they try to finalise their plans, with the Midlands outfit 6/5 to be relegated this season.
