Swansea City v Wrexham Prediction: 5/1 Idah to lead Swans to victory

Wrexham kicked off their Championship campaign with a 1-1 draw at Cardiff City and they travel to Swansea City, another of their Welsh rivals, on Saturday evening.

The Swans began this round of fixtures on top of the table, taking 10 points from their first four matches in the second division.

Wrexham had made a sluggish start to the new Championship season before Phil Parkinson's men claimed an impressive 3-0 victory at Millwall on Wednesday.

Best Bet - Swansea City to win @ 27/20

Swansea City v Wrexham Prediction

Best Bet: Swansea City to win @ 27/20

Wrexham took advantage of Millwall's injury crisis to record their first Championship win of the season on Wednesday, but they may struggle to follow up at Swansea.

The Red Dragons failed to keep a clean sheet in their first four league and cup matches this term and took the lead at the Den thanks to a freak own goal from Zak Sturge.

Parkinson's side completed a 3-0 win in south London in impressive fashion, but the in-form Swans are a good bet to take three points against their Welsh rivals.

City lost only two of their last 15 home games in all competitions last term and those defeats came against Championship winners Coventry City and play-off finalists Middlesbrough.

They conceded in the 10th minute of their opening 2-1 win at Stoke City this season, but have not let in a goal since then.

Swansea had 69 per cent of possession in their 0-0 draw with Sheffield United and 12 shots on target in a commanding 3-0 victory at Derby County.

They were good value for Tuesday's 2-0 home win over Watford, in which they scored twice in the first half an hour.

Vitor Matos' men should be fresher than Wrexham, who played 24 hours later than Swansea in midweek and had a long trip to London.

The Swans came from behind to beat Wrexham 2-1 in last season's home fixture, the clubs' first meeting since March 2003, and they should be celebrating again on Saturday.

Alternative Bet: Adam Idah to be first goalscorer @ 5/1

Adam Idah was Swansea's hero in this fixture last season, capitalising on a fumble from Wrexham keeper Arthur Okonkwo to tap in an injury-time winner.

The Swans fended off interest from Premier League Hull City to keep Slovenian striker Zan Vipotnik, who was the Championship's top scorer last season.

However, Republic of Ireland international Idah has looked sharper than Vipotnik in the early weeks of the new campaign and he is a tempting bet to open the scoring against Wrexham.

Idah netted in the wins over Stoke and Watford and Swans boss Matos was full of praise for the way he led the line in the stalemate against the Blades.

The forward had a prolific spell at Celtic, scoring 21 league goals in just 26 starts and 26 substitute appearances, and he has already fired in 13 shots in four Championship outings this term.

Swansea City v Wrexham Bet Builder Tip

  • Swansea City to win

  • Under 3.5 goals

  • Ben Whiteman to be booked

    Pays 11/1

Wrexham got their first win of the season at Millwall earlier this week, but they could be brought down to earth by an impressive Swansea side on Saturday evening.

The Swans have conceded only one goal in four Championship matches this season, so under 3.5 goals also looks like a solid bet.

Ben Whiteman picked up 10 yellow cards in the Championship for Preston last season and he has been booked in two of his three appearances since joining the Red Dragons.
