Dundee United were exempt from the group stage of last season's Scottish League Cup due to their involvement in the Conference League, but they should be able to get their 2026/27 campaign off to a winning start at Stirling Albion.
United finished top of the bottom half of last term's Scottish Premiership despite an underwhelming end to the campaign.
However, they should be confident of seeing off Albion, who were the lowest home goalscorers in League Two last season.
Albion also failed to notch in any of their four League Cup games last term and this could prove another difficult assignment for the Binos.

Scottish lower division clubs love the League Cup as it allows them to test themselves against top-flight outfits, but this could prove something of a mismatch between League Two Stirling Albion and Premiership Dundee United.
Albion's experience in the competition last season was not a happy one as not only did they lose all four of their matches, but they also failed to score against Hamilton, Dumbarton, Hearts and Dunfermline.
And it was not just in the cup competitions where they lacked firepower, as they scored just 19 goals in their 18 League Two home games, which does not bode well for a visit from a Scottish Premiership outfit.
Admittedly, United kept just one clean sheet on their travels in the top flight, but they should have few problems holding firm in this one and can win without conceding.
Alternative Bet - Dundee United to win 2-0 @ 7/1
United will have been disappointed to have scored just one goal in their final four Scottish Premiership matches last season.
However, they had netted at least twice in six straight games before that, including a 2-0 home win over champions Celtic and a 4-2 defeat at Rangers.
Both Hamilton and Scottish Cup finalists Dunfermline Athletic posted 2-0 wins against Stirling in last season's competition, and it is worth chancing that United can come out on top by the same scoreline.

Dundee United to Win Either Half

This looks like a game where the Terrors may not run riot and there are questions regarding whether Stirling can make a contribution after they were outclassed in the competition last season.
Dundee United could take their foot off the gas if they find themselves in a comfortable position and they were also a little goal-shy at the end of last term, so it would be a surprise if there were more than three goals in the game.
However, we can expect United to head into the interval having established a lead.
They scored in the first half in four of their final seven games of last season's Scottish Premiership campaign and there does look to be a gulf in class between the two sides.
