Rangers make the short hop to Paisley on Saturday night looking to keep their momentum going while applying some more pressure to Scottish Premiership leaders Celtic.
Victory over St Mirren would see the Light Blues move to within a point of a Celtic side who have failed to win in successive league games ahead of facing Kilmarnock on Sunday.
The hosts made a bright start to the season but a run of one win in eight Scottish Premiership games has taken the shine off that for Craig McLeish and his squad.

Best Bet: Rangers to win & Under 3.5 goals @ 7/5
Rangers can move to within a point of champions Celtic with victory in Paisley but it could be a hard-working success.
McInnes' side needed 83 minutes to wear down Aberdeen in last weekend's League Cup semi-final at Hampden Park, while there was a stoppage-time winner from forgotten man Bojan Miovski at Ibrox in September the last time these sides clashed.
Eight of the previous nine clashes at this venue have produced three or fewer goals and the Gers are not scoring freely, with just 19 in 11 league games, compared with Celtic (27) and Hearts (24).
They do, though, have the meanest defence in Scotland's top tier with just nine breaches and the home side have the second-lowest scoring output with 12 goals in 12 games.
Dropping points on the road has been Rangers' Achilles heel in recent seasons and three stalemates from six away from home already has seen that trait continue.
The Light Blues can avoid that scenario with a relatively low-scoring success against a Buddies side low on confidence.
Alternative Bet: Ryan Naderi first goalscorer @ 9/2
One player not struggling for confidence is Ryan Naderi, Rangers' talisman in recent weeks.
With Lawrence Shankland and Youssef Chermiti on the long-term absentee list, McInnes needed someone to step up and the 23-year-old is doing that after taking some time to adapt following his January move from Hansa Rostock.
Naderi got the only goal in the Old Firm win at Celtic Park in September and has four goals and two assists in five games since the international break that followed.
He was the matchwinner against the Dons last weekend, in the right spot to apply a close-range finish, while he opened the scoring when these sides met at Ibrox in the League Cup in August.
Rangers to win
Over 11 corners
Kevin Kelsy 2+ shots on target
Alex Gogic to be booked
Pays 13/1
Rangers are grinding out wins, with nine in 11 since their uninspiring exit from Europe in August. They have beaten the Buddies twice this season in league and cup and can add a third success in their first trip to Paisley.
A decent corner count is likely. The Gers had 12 in the league meeting at Ibrox in September, while Celtic's 2-1 win here in the same month produced 16 corners, with St Mirren contributing six of those.
Kevin Kelsy is another Gers player in good form with four goals in his last four starts - he can fire a couple of shots on target here.
The hosts' Alex Gogic picked up 13 Scottish Premiership yellow cards last season.
He is already up to four this term and could be in trouble with the referee for a fourth successive game after cautions against Dundee, Hibs and Motherwell.
