The top flight of Scottish football has taken on various forms over the years, established as the Scottish Football League in 1890 and now recognised as the Scottish Premiership in the present day.

As the two traditional powerhouses of Scottish football, Rangers and Celtic have won by far and the way the most national league titles, with the Gers narrowly leading the Hoops with 55 titles to 54.

The last time a team outside of the Old Firm won the Scottish league title was Aberdeen under the management of Sir Alex Ferguson in 1984/85.

In total, there have been 11 clubs who have been crowned champions of Scotland since the establishment of the Scottish Football League in 1890.
