Manchester United v Liverpool Prediction, Tips and Bet Builder

In recent seasons Liverpool have had a stranglehold on Manchester United, but the tide could be turning according to Racing Post's Aaron Ashley.

The Red Devils are bidding to complete a Premier League double over their fierce rivals for the first time since the 2015-16 campaign.

United won 2-1 at Anfield in October, with goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire rewarding them with maximum points and this looks an ideal opportunity to frank that form.

With four games left to play, the Red Devils sit third in the table and are three points clear of the fourth-placed Merseysiders, who have made a dismal attempt of repeating last season’s title success.

Pressure has been on Arne Slot on a couple of occasions this season, whereas United have been rejuvenated by Michael Carrick, who has won nine of his opening 13 games in charge.

Manchester United v Liverpool Prediction

Best Bet: Manchester United to win @ 5/4

United have won only three of their last 19 meetings with Liverpool, but Carrick has got them to turn a corner with a run of six wins in their last seven outings at Old Trafford.

Since his first game in charge, United have picked up more points than any other Premier League team, collecting 29 points in 13 matches, with nine victories.

Liverpool are missing key players in attack with Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitike sidelined, so this looks to be another good opportunity for the hosts.

The Red Devils have taken a huge step forward from last season's lowly 15th-placed finish and they have won 11 of their 17 home games this term, with captain Bruno Fernandes playing an integral part.

Liverpool have lost five of their last seven away games, which includes going down at bottom club Wolves and also Galatasaray in the UEFA Champions League, while they were also brushed aside 4-0 at Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Alternative Bet: Casemiro anytime goalscorer @ 5/1

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is renowned for his ability to protect the defence, but he has been an unlikely goalscoring hero for United this season, having taken his tally to nine league goals with the opener in last weekend’s victory against Brentford.

A serious threat in the air, Casemiro has scored in United's last three home games, against Aston Villa, Leeds and the Bees, so he looks overpriced to add to his haul against the inconsistent visitors.

Manchester United v Liverpool Bet Builder Tip

  • Bruno Fernandes to assist

  • Casemiro to have a shot on target

  • Curtis Jones to be shown a card

    Pays 33/1

Fernandes has 19 Premier League assists this season, leaving him only one behind a seasonal record set by Thierry Henry in 2003 and Kevin De Bruyne in 2020.

The Portuguese ace has created 114 chances this season, 53 more than any other player, and he has assisted in seven of his last nine matches for club and country, so United will be relying on his creativity.

Casemiro has scored in United's last three home games and, having had 11 shots over his last seven Premier League appearances, he could register an effort on goal.

Finally, Curtis Jones could be a booking candidate, having been asked to address Liverpool’s problems at right-back in recent assignments.

The midfield man committed one foul in the Merseyside derby and then made three more in last weekend's 3-1 victory at home to Crystal Palace, so the Red Devils' pacey frontline could test him.
