Djed Spence potential next club

Serie A champions Inter Milan are reportedly one of a number of clubs weighing up a summer move for Tottenham Hotspur full-back Djed Spence.

Inter are eager to bolster their ranks ahead of the 2026/27 campaign and they have viewed Spence, whose stock has risen considerably during the World Cup, as a key target.

The 25-year-old earned his first senior cap in August 2025 and he was surprisingly named in Thomas Tuchel's England squad for the major tournament, although his selection has been vindicated.

Spence played in all eight of the Three Lions' matches, starting four times, and he drew particular praise for his display in the 2-1 quarter-final defeat to Argentina.

Despite the impressive performances, Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is said to be happy for the full-back, who only penned a contract extension in August, to leave the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.

Tottenham have been on a spending spree this summer, already splashing out over £200m on the likes of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, and they are now looking to offset some of that expenditure with some sales.

We have explored the possible options for the Englishman ahead of the new season.

Premier League

Inter Milan

Inter are keen to bring in a versatile defender with the ability to play on either flank and Spence, who has shown he is capable of this at the World Cup, fits the bill nicely.

The Nerazzurri have been admirers of the Englishman before his recent international showings and they are not put off by the expected rise in transfer valuation, which is believed to be around £35-£40million.

Inter are looking for a replacement for Denzel Dumfries, who has left for Real Madrid, and they have already missed out on both Marco Palestra and Anan Khalaili.

Deals fell through for both players and the Serie A holders are eager not to let a move for Spence falter, with the club expected to ramp up negotiations in the coming days.

It is also claimed Inter are looking into a potential deal for Feyenoord right-back Givairo Read, who has impressed with the Dutch giants over the last couple of seasons.

Everton

There could be another Premier League destination for Spence, who is believed to be on the radar of Everton.

One negative for the Toffees is the fact they cannot offer the full-back UEFA Champions League football, which is said to be high on the Englishman's list of priorities for next season.

However, Everton are still confident they can persuade Spence to make the switch to the Hill Dickinson Stadium and they would be willing to offer close to £35m to land their target.

Liverpool

If Spence doesn't head to Everton, then he may not be far away following reports Liverpool are also keeping tabs on his situation.

New Reds boss Andoni Iraola is eager to strengthen his defensive ranks and the versatility of Spence is something the former Bournemouth boss likes.

The £35-£40m transfer fee would be of no concern to Liverpool, who are expected to have another busy summer after failing to defend their Premier League crown.

Newcastle United

With Kieran Trippier leaving St James’ Park this summer and Tino Livramento enduring injury problems last season, Newcastle United are rumoured to be weighing up an offer for Spence.

The Magpies are hoping for a busy summer and defensive reinforcements is an area manager Eddie Howe is looking at.

Spence would fit the profile Newcastle are looking at, as he has the ability to play on both flanks, and a bid could be lodged.
