Ipswich Town v Nottingham Forest Prediction: 2/1 Delap a danger on Town return

Seven games into their Premier League return, Ipswich Town will be delighted to be sitting in 10th place in the table.

The Tractor Boys have been especially good at beating potential relegation rivals, with all of their wins coming against teams currently in the bottom seven.

That is a good omen ahead of Friday's visit from struggling Nottingham Forest then, as the Reds are down in 19th after being handed their fourth defeat of the season by Arsenal.

Oliver Glasner's Tricky Trees have been better than the bare results suggest, though, and they have more than enough quality to take the game to their hosts at Portman Road.

Ipswich Town v Nottingham Forest Prediction

Best Bet: Both teams to score & over 2.5 goals @ 20/21

With only the Premier League games of gung-ho Chelsea (30) and in-form Brighton (28) producing more goals than the 26 which have been scored in Ipswich's matches, a scintillating Suffolk spectacle looks to be on the cards.

Just one of the Tractor Boys' last eight home matches has featured fewer than three goals and their exciting attack can ensure the Portman Road faithful are left breathless once again.

They are unlikely to be the only team doing the scoring, though. Morgan Gibbs-White's return immediately improves Forest's chances and they can extend Ipswich’s run of games without a clean sheet to 10.

Alternative Bet: Liam Delap anytime goalscorer @ 2/1

One storyline to keep an eye on is Liam Delap's return to Portman Road, where he was idolised after scoring 12 Premier League goals for the Tractor Boys only two seasons ago.

A poor season at Chelsea followed, but he has looked much more of a threat under Glasner, who has built a team to play to his strengths.

Delap has only one goal so far, however, he is mightily unlucky not to have more and the 18 shots he has racked up shows the chances are falling.

The Reds forward was wasteful against Arsenal, but the added motivation that comes with facing his former club means he should show his more ruthless side in Suffolk.

  • Murillo 2+ shots

  • Over 6 corners

Delap's impact is unlikely to be reserved for just shooting.

He is a physical forward who loves to get stuck in - Ipswich fans know that better than most after watching him pick up 12 yellow cards in 37 Premier League games - and the extra fire in his belly may lead to a few of the late challenges he loves to leave on centre-backs.

Another player who went extremely close to equalising against the Gunners could have a big impact for Forest, too, with Murillo making appeal in the shots market after being inches away from a sensational solo strike last Sunday.

The Brazilian is an enigmatic defender who loves to bomb forward, while also being an aerial threat from set-pieces.

That combination has seen him rack up seven shots in his last two appearances and he will fancy his chances against an Ipswich side that allowed Man City's Ruben Dias to register two attempts on target last Saturday.

With a frantic affair expected, the corner count could soar. Forest's Premier League games this season have averaged 7.6 corners, while Ipswich have seen just 0.3 fewer per match, making over six flag-kicks a near certainty.
