After a strong campaign which saw them maintain touch with the leading trio for a long time in the Scottish Premiership, it has been all change at Motherwell over the summer.
Manager Jens Berthel Askou has left for Toulouse while key men Elijah Just and Elliot Watt have also departed, leaving new boss Alfred Johansson with a lot of work to do.
He has made a strong start, leading the Well to back-to-back wins to nil in Europe, but the difficulty will ramp up at Hibernian on Sunday, with the capital club expected to make it a real battle at Easter Road.

Best Bet: Draw @ 23/10
Motherwell ended a strong 2025/26 with a 1-0 win at Hibernian but, after a summer overhaul, they are not guaranteed to replicate that in their Scottish Premiership curtain-raiser.
Progression into the third round of the UEFA Conference League qualifying will have boosted confidence among the squad and fans, although Hibs did the same during the week, and in style, too.
David Gray’s side suffered a shock 2-0 loss to Malisheva in the first leg of their qualifying tie but showed great resilience and attacking quality to rout them 4-1 at Easter Road.
That makes Hibs and Motherwell look fairly well-matched and it would be no surprise to see a third stalemate in four head-to-heads unfold in Edinburgh.
Alternative Bet: Nathan Lowe anytime goalscorer @ 7/4
Hibernian have been busy throughout the summer and made some smart signings. One of those arrivals catches the eye more than the others, though, with Nathan Lowe looking the type to bag plenty of goals in Scotland.
Lowe first broke on to the scene when scoring 15 goals in 22 League Two games for Walsall. His career hasn’t quite kicked on as expected but the signs are positive that Edinburgh can be the right home for the towering forward.
The Stoke loanee netted a brace on his pre-season debut against Brondby and was on target in Tuesday’s 4-1 hammering of Malisheva. He is a real threat and is a nice price to score on Sunday.
Lukas Fadinger over 0.5 shots
Owen Elding over 0.5 shots on target
Martin Moormann to be booked
Pays 13/2
Motherwell will look to take the game to Hibs and that means their midfielders should get in on the action. Lukas Fadinger scored in both legs against Torshavn and can make it eight shots in seven Scottish Premiership appearances.
At the other end, Owen Elding could be a beneficiary of new strike-partner Lowe’s excellent hold-up play. The youngster averaged a shot on target every 84 minutes across spells in Ireland and Scotland last term and has looked lively this summer.
That new strike partnership - especially Lowe’s physicality - should cause Motherwell’s centre-backs some issues and new signing Martin Moormann, who picked up five yellow cards in 19 Austrian Bundesliga appearances for Blau-Weiss Linz last term, may be drawn into a real battle.
