Borussia Dortmund's unbeaten start to the Bundesliga campaign means they start the weekend in their usual spot of second, although they are doing better than usual, sitting behind bitter rivals Bayern Munich on goal difference alone.
Niko Kovac’s BVB ensured their long trip to Baku was not a wasted one as they beat Sabah 2-1 in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday and they will expect to follow up against Eintracht Frankfurt.
Eintracht have made a below-par start to the Bundesliga campaign, with Adi Hutter struggling to get his ideas across to a talented squad, and Saturday’s trip to Signal Iduna Park needs to go better than their last away day.
Best Bet - Over 2.5 Borussia Dortmund goals @ 11/10
Alternative Bet - Maximilian Beier to score or assist @ 8/11
Bet Builder - Borussia Dortmund to win, Ethan Nwaneri 1+ shots on target, Raphael Onyedika to be booked @ 25/4
Best Bet: Over 2.5 Borussia Dortmund goals @ 11/10
Dortmund put in a rare goal-shy performance when being held to a 0-0 draw at Union Berlin last week and Kovac will be eager for his side to rediscover their shooting boots as they look to chase down Bayern.
A return home should help given they have scored 10 times in four Signal Iduna Park outings, as will a visit from Frankfurt, with Hutter yet to fix a defence which conceded the third-most goals (63) in last season’s Bundesliga.
Frankfurt did earn a first Bundesliga clean sheet since March in last week’s 1-0 win over Cologne but they were hammered 6-0 at Leipzig prior to that and look set for another thrashing on their travels against a top-class BVB.
Alternative Bet: Maximilian Beier to score or assist @ 8/11
Dortmund have plenty of attackers who could hurt a Frankfurt defence which has conceded 10 goals in three Bundesliga away games, but it is Maximilian Beier who appeals most at the prices.
Beier has a history of punishing Eintracht, scoring once and providing two assists in last season's meetings between this pair, and he has started the campaign with confidence, firing off 16 shots in six league appearances.
The German is also creating 1.3 chances per Bundesliga game, highlighting his playmaking threat, and it would be no surprise to see him directly involved in a fourth league goal of the campaign.
Frankfurt have managed only one win on their Bundesliga travels and they are unlikely to improve on that record on Saturday, with Dortmund winning seven of their last nine home games and sitting six points clear of their mid-table visitors.
Beier and Serhou Guirassy are BVB’s obvious dangers but they are not alone in carrying a threat as Ethan Nwaneri has impressed since moving to Germany.
The on-loan Arsenal star is averaging a shot on target every 77 minutes in the Bundesliga and can add to his tally of four.
Nwaneri is far from being the only talented, energetic player in Dortmund’s squad and he, along with Jobe Bellingham and Lukas Nmecha, should keep Frankfurt’s Raphael Onyedika busy in the engine room.
The Nigerian picked up four yellow cards in his first six Bundesliga starts and the wait for a fifth may be short.
