Amario Cozier-Duberry potential next club as transfer battle looms

The summer transfer window opens on Monday and one player who will be eager to sort out his future is Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry.

Having started his youth career at Chettle Court Rangers and Arsenal, Cozier-Duberry joined Brighton on a free transfer in July 2024, putting pen-to-paper on a four-year contract at the Amex Stadium.

The Englishman spent the 2024/25 campaign on loan at Blackburn Rovers, where he made 22 Championship appearances and scored once, before he was shipped out to Bolton Wanderers this season.

Cozier-Duberry's temporary spell at the Toughsheet Community Stadium has elevated his status, as he registered 13 assists and nine goals to help the Trotters reach England's second tier via the play-offs.

The 21-year-old was nominated for the EFL and PFA Player of the Season awards and was named in the team of the season, evidence of how big an impact he had during the League One season.

With two years left on his contract at Brighton, we have looked into Cozier-Duberry's next move this summer.

Brighton

With the Seagulls playing in next season's Conference League, there could be more opportunities for the fringe players due to the increased fixture schedule and Cozier-Duberry could end up being part of the first-team squad.

It is believed that Albion have offered the winger a new contract, which shows how much they value a player whose current deal expires in the summer of 2028, but whether he is ready for the step up to the senior team is another question.

Most likely is that the South Coast outfit will extend his contract before sending him out to gain more valuable minutes in the 2026/27 campaign, with a move to the Championship a possibility.

Bolton Wanderers

Having played a crucial part in Bolton's promotion from League One, it is no surprise to see Wanderers interested in acquiring his services for the upcoming Championship campaign.

While a permanent move would be an ideal situation, it is unclear whether the Trotters have the required finances to strike a deal, and whether the Seagulls are willing to part with their rising star.

A more realistic scenario would be another season-long loan as Bolton aim to secure a return to the Premier League, with the club 20/1 to be promoted and 80/1 to win the title.

Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn are also said to be in the running for Cozier-Duberry’s signature, with returning manager Tony Mowbray looking to strengthen his attacking options.

The winger failed to make his mark during his loan spell at Ewood Park in 2024/25 and there is a feeling of unfinished business at Rovers.

Cercle Brugge

Belgian Pro League outfit Cercle Brugge, who finished 14th this term, have also been credited with an interest and the club may look into a season-long loan move.

Head coach Lars Friis, who started his managerial career at Brentford B, has been in charge of Cercle since March this year and is eager to strengthen his squad.

France or Germany

Cozier-Duberry's performances this season have not just caught the eye of clubs in England, with reports also suggesting teams in France and Germany are keeping tabs on his situation.

Again, it is thought a temporary move would be the best course of action, although Brighton may consider a permanent exit if a bid in excess of £5million were to be lodged.
