Left-back Alejandro Balde has emerged as a transfer target for several clubs, including Manchester United, after he was left out of Barcelona's squad for their 5-0 win over Elche.
Balde was a surprise omission from Barca's squad after being linked with a move away from the Camp Nou and coach Hansi Flick has confirmed the pair will talk in the coming days.
He told reporters: "No, I'm not asking him to leave. This morning I felt there was something wrong.
I spoke to him and said: "At this moment, I have this feeling, and I think it's best for you to clear your mind, sort out your thoughts, and then we'll talk again tomorrow.
"And he agreed as well. He agreed to it because there are so many things going around in his head, and that's why he's not here."
Reports last week suggested Premier League giants United had made Balde one of their main transfer targets for the rest of the window and Flick's decision has now put other clubs on high alert.
Manchester United
The Red Devils first made an approach for Balde last week, with manager Michael Carrick eager to sign a new left-back.
Luke Shaw started Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Hull City, but Carrick wants more strength in depth with the club now back in the UEFA Champions League.
United had tried to sign Lewis Hall from Newcastle United last week, but the Magpies are eager to keep hold of the England international.
The Red Devils have now singled out Balde as their main target in defence, with the 22-year-old reportedly ready to try a new challenge, according to Jijantes.
Balde will also have to compete with Joao Cancelo, who has returned to the club on a free transfer this summer.
He made 28 appearances in La Liga last season as Barca won the title, but United's approach may have turned his head and tempted him to try a new challenge.
Aston Villa
Aston Villa have seen several key players leave this summer and Unai Emery sanctioned Lucas Digne's exit to Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month.
Left-back Matteo Ruggeri has already moved to Villa Park, giving Ian Maatsen competition for the first-team spot.
Maatsen has never been able to nail down a regular spot in Emery's XI, though reports have suggested the Villa boss could move him into midfield.
Villa may struggle to compete with United's spending power, though, despite several high-profile exits, including Youri Tielemans and Morgan Rogers.
Benfica
Benfica are still adjusting to life under new manager Marco Silva, with the former Fulham coach keen to improve his squad before the transfer window closes.
Silva has signed seven new players this summer, but the Portuguese giants allowed left-back Sidny Lopes Cabral to leave the club.
That leaves Jose Neto and Samuel Dahl as the club's two left-sided full-backs and Balde would certainly improve them in that department.
While Benfica could offer the youngster the chance to play in another competitive league, they failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League and still have work to do to secure their spot in the League Phase of the Europa League.
The Lisbon Lions are open to making a bid, but recent reports suggest they are likely to only offer €20 million, which is half of the amount Barca are hoping to secure from any potential suitor.
Atletico Madrid
Barcelona are thought to be keen on signing Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez this summer and Balde may be included in any negotiations.
Mundo Deportivo suggested in June that Balde was one of two players that the Blaugrana planned to include in negotiations, as well as midfielder Marc Casado.
Atleti are adamant that Alvarez is going nowhere this window, but Barca's willingness to include him in provisional talks suggests his time at the club is coming to an end.
