Liam Lawson's demotion from Red Bull has sent shockwaves around the Formula 1 paddock.
The 23-year-old survived just two races with the Austrian constructor before the decision was made to relegate Lawson to the Racing Bulls team, with Yuki Tsunoda receiving a promotion at his expense.
Lawson's brief tenure with Red Bull will go down as one of the shortest stints in the history of the sport and we've looked at the drivers who were also subjected to fleeting cameos with an F1 team.
Four Grands Prix (2006)
Yuji Ide will be remembered as the man with the shortest F1 career.
Signed by Super Aguri for the 2006 season, Ide suffered the indignity of having his FIA super licence stripped from him following a serious collision involving the Japanese driver and Christijan Albers.
The actions of the governing body meant that after just four races, Ide was no longer permitted to race in F1 and Super Aguri drafted in Franck Montagny as his replacement.
Five Grands Prix (2003)
Nicolas Kiesa is somewhat unfortunate to find himself on this list given he performed admirably for Minardi in 2003.
The Danish driver was drafted in with five races of the season remaining following Robert Doornbos' departure to Jaguar and although he appeared primed to retain his seat for 2004, Kiesa was subsequently overlooked for Zsolt Baumgartner.
10 Grands Prix (2023)
Great expectation was placed on the shoulders of Nyck de Vries after the Dutchman produced a superb drive at the 2022 Italian Grand Prix when deputising for the appendicitis-stricken Alex Albon at Williams.
A host of teams were queueing for De Vries' services, but a seat arose at Alpha Tauri for the 2023 campaign.
10 races later and De Vries was the victim of Red Bull's cutthroat management. A series of underwhelming performances saw him cast aside as Alpha Tauri sanctioned the return of Daniel Ricciardo.
11 Grands Prix (2010)
A prominent member of the Sky Sports F1 broadcasting team, Karun Chandhok's racing stint in F1 was far less glamorous.
Chandhok's opportunity to impress was hindered by the inferiority of his HRT car and although the Indian racer produced his best result by finishing 14th at the Australian Grand Prix, results later deteriorated.
HRT decided to drop Chandhok after the German Grand Prix in favour of Sakon Yamamoto.
