Paris Saint-Germain won a 14th Ligue 1 title when defeating Lens 2-0 on Wednesday night.
It marks a fifth consecutive top-flight triumph for the Paris-based outfit and a 12th league title in 14 campaigns.
PSG have dominated French football in more recent years, so much so that it's a genuine surprise when other clubs are even competing with them, let alone trumping them to the title.
Lille were the last team to do so in the 2020/21 season, but PSG have been flawless since and a large proportion of their success can be attributed to the arrival of Spanish great Luis Enrique.
Prior to Enrique's arrival in 2023, PSG fans had by no means been starved of domestic success, but, despite boasting a remarkable front three of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar, there was an overarching sense that a more balanced approach was required to reach new heights in Europe.
In the same summer that Enrique was appointed as manager, Neymar and Messi left the club, while Mbappe departed for Real Madrid just a year later.
The arrival of Enrique also marked a notable shift in the club's transfer strategy, recruiting elite young talents, including Desire Doue, Willian Pacho and Bradley Barcola, as opposed to global superstars who outweigh the balance of the side.
Under Enrique, PSG really are the complete article. While winning trophies like Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Trophee des Champions remain impressive achievements, there's an assumption that a club with their financial power should be sweeping them up on a yearly basis.
It was the UEFA Champions League trophy that the Parisians desired above all, and Enrique guided the club to major European glory for the first time in their history in the 2024/25 campaign.
It was a remarkable tournament that saw them defeat English trio Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal on the way to the final, before dismantling Inter Milan in emphatic 5-0 fashion in Munich.
They travel to Budapest in May where they will face Arsenal with the chance to win back-to-back UEFA Champions League honours, but first they will celebrate an 11th trophy under Enrique after defeating Lens to win Ligue 1.
