Neil Warnock has been named as the interim manager of National League South outfit Torquay United after Paul Wotton was sacked by the club.
Wotton was sacked following Torquay's 5-0 defeat at home to Chelmsford on Saturday, with the Gulls dropping from top spot to fourth in the National League South table after going five games without a win.
77-year-old Warnock has taken charge on a temporary basis and he will lead the team against Farnborough on Tuesday.
Warnock joined Torquay's board as an advisor in May 2024, marking his return to a club that he briefly managed back in 1993.
The 77-year-old holds the record for managing the most matches in English league football and he has achieved eight promotions during a successful career.
Warnock's interim appointment marks his 21st different spell as a club manager and he has managed 17 different clubs in his career.
