England will play in their 11th World Cup quarter-final when they take on Norway on Saturday.
The Three Lions pulled off a historic triumph over Mexico in the round of 16 and are now tasked with keeping ruthless marksman Erling Haaland at bay in Miami.
Down the years, England have reached the last eight of the World Cup on 10 occasions, losing out to France when they last got their in 2022.
We take a look at their overall record below...
Overall, England's quarter-final record makes for fairly bleak reading from a home perspective.
After being eliminated from their first World Cup in the groups, England suffered defeat to Uruguay in their maiden quarter-final appearance at Switzerland 1954. England legends Nat Lafthouse and Tom Finney got themselves on the scoresheet but they could not prevent a 4-2 loss to the South American side.
Their 1962 campaign in Chile ended in similar fashion too, defeat to another South American side, and eventual winners Brazil saw England book an early plane home.
There would be no such defeat at 1966, however.
Famously the only time England have lifted the World Cup, Geoff Hurst was the only goalscorer in a tense 1-0 victory in front of 90,000 at Wembley.
Despite this, England wouldn't win another World Cup quarter-final until 1990. In the meantime, the Three Lions reached the last eight on two occasions, once beaten by West Germany before being infamously consigned to an exit from Mexico 1986 by Diego Maradona's 'Hand of God' goal.
A David Platt strike, combined with two goals from Gary Lineker saw England through to the semis where they fell to Germany on penalties.
There was yet more heartbreak down the road, however, with defeats to Brazil and Portugal coming in 2002 and 2006 respectively.
Ronaldinho's audacious free-kick prematurely ended England's campaign in South Korea & Japan before suffering another agonising penalty-shootout loss in Gelsenkirchen.
The decade that followed makes for grim reading, but the appointment of Gareth Southgate brought the good times back for England.
Southgate led his country to the World Cup semi-finals in 2018 after a 2-0 victory over Sweden and four years later, the Three Lions would lose out to eventual runners-up France in a controversial tie at Qatar 2022.
