England v Australia team news: Squads named for November Nations Championship opener

England and Australia have named their squads for their November Nations Championship opener at Twickenham this weekend.

Both sides currently sit third in their respective Nations Championship standings, with England having won twice so far, while the Wallabies have won just once.

England's sole defeat came against South Africa this summer, while Australia lost to France and Ireland on home soil, only winning against Italy.

Steve Borthwick has resisted too many surprises in team selection for the visit of the Wallabies, with Fin Baxter being favoured to Ellis Genge the main headline.

Baxter joins vice captain Jamie George and Joe Heyes in the front row, with captain Maro Itoje joined by Alex Coles in the second row.

Leicester captain Ollie Chessum is the other starting vice captain, being named at blindside flanker in a back row that includes Ben Curry and Ben Earl.

Jack van Poortvliet is selected at nine in Alex Mitchell's absence, partnering Fin Smith at half back, inside of Seb Atkinson and Henry Slade in the centres.

George Furbank is preferred to Freddie Steward at full back, with Tommy Freeman and Immanuel Feyi-Waboso named out wide.

For Australia, Exeter's Harry Wilson is named to captain his nation, in a back row featuring Jeremy Williams and Fraser McReight.

Josh Canham and Lukhan Salakaia-Loto form the second row, behind Allan Alaalatoa, Billy Pollard and Angus Bell.

Tom Wright is named to start at full back, with Max Jorgensen and Joseph-Aukuso Suaalii in the back three, outside of a centre pairing of Len Ikitau and Isaac Henry, while Ryan Lonergan partners Declan Meredith in the half backs.
