Salford City FC have announced that David Beckham and Gary Neville will lead a new US-based ownership group at Moor Lane.
The League Two club was previously owned by Neville alongside other members of the 'Class of 92', as well as businessman Peter Lim.
Former Manchester United teammates Ryan Giggs, Nicky Butt, Paul Scholes and Phil Neville will no longer hold a stake in the club.
Whilst they will no longer act as serving shareholders, the four ex-players will take up roles within the club.
Gary Neville said in an official club statement: "I am passionate about Salford City. This is a unique partnership with a diverse range of minds and expertise, held together by a love of football.
"Football will come first, however it’s critical that we drive the Club towards sustainability in the next 4-5 years. I can’t wait for the next part of this journey.”
David Beckham, who also co-owns Major League Soccer outfit Inter Miami, has expressed his excitement regarding his new venture.
The 50-year-old said: "I grew up in Salford, I have such fond memories of my time living there and the place and its people played such an important part in my early life in football.
Salford City is at the heart of its community….it has a rich history and I am delighted to be a part of the next chapter.
- David Beckham
The new consortium will aim to build on the success of the former ownership group that took charge in 2014.
Their journey has taken them from a semi-professional outfit all the way to the fourth tier of English football, with 2019/20 being their first campaign in the English Football League.
Salford narrowly missed out on a League Two playoff place this season after a final day draw against Carlisle resulted in the Ammies missing out on seventh place by a single point.
