Cristiano Ronaldo is set to retire from international football after Portugal exited the World Cup at the last-16 stage.
The 41-year-old has enjoyed one of the most storied international careers in the history of the game, and one that has spanned more than two decades.
Prior to Portugal's last 32 clash with Croatia, Ronaldo's sister, Katia Aveiro, hinted that the superstar forward may call time on his spell with the national team when his World Cup campaign comes to an end.
Now that has happened, we take a look back through Ronaldo's Portugal career in numbers...
With 146 goals in 233 appearances, Ronaldo is by far and away the leading goalscorer in Men's international football history.
Great rival Lionel Messi is closest to matching his tally with 123, but still some 23 short of the Portuguese ace.
Unsurprisingly, it is the same two greats of the modern era that occupy the top two places in terms of international caps. Ronaldo's 233 appearances usurp the 203 times Messi has featured for Argentina and the 202 games that Luka Modric played for Croatia.
Ronaldo made his Portugal debut in a 1-0 win over Kazakhstan on 20th August 2003 and made his final appearance over two decades later on 6th July 2026.
At the age of 21 years and 132 days, Ronaldo became Portugal's youngest goalscorer at the World Cup finals and when finding the net against Croatia at the age of 41 years and 149 days, became Portugal's oldest goalscorer at the World Cup finals.
Ronaldo is the only player to score in six different World Cups and has scored 11 goals.
His 14 goals at the European Championships makes him the leading goalscorer in the competition's history, whilst also holding the record for the most assists at the tournament with seven.
Ronaldo has won the UEFA Nations League twice and trails only Erling Haaland in the all-time leading goalscoring charts with 15 goals.
His eight goals during the 2024/25 edition is the most scored in a single League A campaign.
