West Indies v New Zealand First ODI Prediction, Tips and Bet Builder

West Indies host New Zealand in the first of a five-match One Day International series taking place across Guyana and Jamaica. The first ODI is on Saturday evening in Providence, Guyana.

New Zealand head to the Caribbean following a historic Test series win in England, with several of the same players involved in both the red-ball and white-ball teams.

Confidence will be high among the Kiwis after their first series win in England since 1999 and they approach this opening match as the slight favourites.

Both teams have struggled of late in this format, with New Zealand losing their last two ODI matches and the West Indies winless in five.

However, New Zealand ran out 3-0 series winners the last time these sides met in November 2025, making it five ODI wins in a row for the Black Caps against their hosts.

West Indies v New Zealand Tips Summary

Best Bet - New Zealand to win @ 8/11
Alternative Bet - No Hundreds to be scored in the match @ 10/11
Bet Builder - Tom Latham 20+ runs, Jayden Seales 2+ wickets, Shai Hope 2+ sixes @ 14/1

West Indies v New Zealand Prediction

Best Bet - New Zealand to win @ 8/11

New Zealand's record against the West Indies in ODI cricket is excellent.

The Black Caps whitewashed their opponents 3-0 in their most recent series in New Zealand in November last year.

And the Kiwis were winners the last time they travelled to the Caribbean, coming back from 1-0 down to take the series 2-1.

Fresh from last month's confidence-boosting Test series win in England, New Zealand will head to Guyana for the first match in high spirits.

With many of the same players involved, their fine performance in England should translate to the ODI format and backing Mitchell Santner's team to come out on top in the series opener appeals.

Alternative Bet - No Hundreds to be scored in the match @ 10/11

The Providence ground in Guyana is known for its low-scoring matches with a historical average of 225 runs in the first innings and 200 in the second.

Over 300 runs have only ever been scored three times at the ground and with the spinners often able to keep the run rate down, centuries are particularly hard to come by.

Just seven centuries have been hit in 50 ODI innings at the Providence Stadium in 25 matches.

With runs hard to come by in Guyana, backing against an eighth 100 being scored looks an attractive proposition.

West Indies v New Zealand Bet Builder Tip

  • Tom Latham 20+ runs

  • Jayden Seales 2+ wickets

  • Shai Hope 2+ sixes

Pays 14/1

New Zealand wicketkeeper-batter Tom Latham averaged 33.50 when these sides last met in an ODI series and the talented Kiwi can hit those numbers again in this match.

Latham looked in good form with the bat against England in the Test arena and can continue that into this format during this series.

Jayden Seales was the leading West Indies wicket-taker during the three matches in 2025, taking six wickets.

The seamer will be on home turf in this clash and has all the skills required to take two or more wickets in Saturday's first game.

Rounding out this three-fold is backing Shai Hope to hit two or more sixes.

The West Indies captain was the series top scorer in New Zealand last year, scoring 162 and smashing five sixes.

Backing the skipper to clear the ropes on two or more occasions appeals.
