Notts Outlaws v Lancashire Lightning Prediction, Tips and Bet Builder

Trent Bridge hosts two of the most in-form teams of this season's Blast competition. Both Notts Outlaws and Lancashire Lightning are on three-match winning runs, bettered only by Northamptonshire’s perfect eight wins from eight.

Notts sit top of the North Group with five wins from eight, while the Lightning are in third place with four wins and four defeats to their name.

A home win for the Outlaws would see them well on their way to qualifying from the North group, however, defeat and Lancs would have the four-point gap t the group leaders.

The Lightning will have to do it the hard way, though, with England stars Jos Buttler, Phil Salt and Luke Wood all away on international duty.

Notts Outlaws v Lancashire Lightning

Notts Outlaws v Lancashire Lightning Prediction

Best Bet: Total match runs - Over 328.5 @ 5/6

Four T20 Blast matches have been held at Trent Bridge this season and two of them have seen over 330 runs scored, so, with two strong batting line-ups, that mark can be hit once more with a combined score between the pair of over 328.5 a distinct possibility.

The dimensions at Trent Bridge favour high-scoring matches, with the ground renowned for short boundaries and big hitters being rewarded.

Lancashire are without their England stars Buttler and Salt but the Lightning have plenty in reserve with the likes of Liam Livingstone and Keaton Jennings more than capable of racking up the big numbers.

The Outlaws possess their own firepower with the likes of Scotland batter George Munsey, captain Joe Clarke and powerful middle-order hitter Tom Moores in their line-up.

Backing both teams' batters to come out on top in this contest looks an appealing option and the line at 328.5 is more than within reach for these two teams.

Alternative Bet: Notts Outlaws highest opening partnership @ 4/5

Backing the Outlaws openers to outscore their opposite numbers appeals in this match, given the Lightning are without Salt at the top of the order.

With Buttler also on international duty, no obvious alternative stands out to join Jennings at the top of the order.

After a poor start to the competition, the Outlaws rejigged their team and Munsey has joined captain Clarke in opening, and the pair are building a fine partnership at the top of the order.

Last time out, the pair put on 60 together, with Clarke hitting 42 of them in just 22 deliveries.

Munsey took the mantle on after Clarke's wicket fell and went on to score 75 not out, so backing the pair to outscore the Lightning openers looks a strong option in this match.

Notts Outlaws v Lancashire Lightning Bet Builder Tip

  • George Munsey 30+ runs

  • Mohammad Ali 2+ wickets

  • Liam Livingstone 30+ runs

    Pays 13/2

Scotland international Munsey is having a phenomenal season for the Outlaws. Only Warwickshire's Australian Beau Webster has outscored him in this year's competition, with the two men being the only players to have over 400 runs to their name.

Munsey has racked up 408 in just eight innings at an average of 81.60, going at a strike rate of 150. He has three 50s to his name and backing him to hit 30 runs on home turf at Trent Bridge appeals.

While Munsey has been leading the way with the bat, Mohammad Ali is doing so with the ball for the Outlaws. He has taken 17 wickets, just one behind tournament leader James Sales.

The next leading wicket-taker for Notts is Dillon Pennington with eight, showcasing just how dominant and important Ali is to the side.

In his last five T20 matches for the Outlaws, Ali has taken three wickets on three occasions and two on the other two.

The Pakistan bowler is in fine form and backing him to take two or more at his home ground looks like an attractive option.

The final leg of this three-fold is to back former England star Liam Livingstone to hit 30 runs or more.

The all-rounder is averaging 60 from his six innings in this season's Blast and, at a ground with boundaries on the shorter side, he will fancy his chances of clearing the ropes on multiple occasions and building a big innings.

Tactics, Form & Team News

Last time out Notts put in a commanding performance to see off Leicestershire by 74 runs and they are likely to keep an unchanged team for this clash.

Munsey has been promoted to open with captain Clarke at the expense of Sam Seecharan, who has been dropped from the XI and is unlikely to regain his place given the form of the openers in recent matches.

Expected Notts Outlaws XI: Joe Clarke (c), George Munsey, Jack Haynes, Tom Moores (wk), George Linde, Benny Howell, Freddie McCann, Liam Patterson-White, Olly Stone, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Amir.

The Lightning are on a three-match winning run despite losing key players to international duty. Buttler, Salt and Wood are big players to replace but Lancashire coped admirably against Derbyshire with a four-run win.

Michael Jones has come in for Salt at the top of the order and, after hitting 29 in 14 balls, will likely keep his spot in the side.

Expected Lancashire Lightning XI: Michael Jones, Keaton Jennings (c), Liam Livingstone, Matty Hurst (wk), Ben McDermott, Shadab Khan, Joseph Moores, Jack Blatherwick, Tom Hartley, Tom Aspinwall, James Anderson.
