Surrey are favourites to wrestle back the County Championship Division One title from Nottinghamshire.

Former England coach Peter Moores led the Trent Bridge side to their first top-flight title in 15 years and, in the process, ended Surrey's three-year domination of the division.

Despite coming off second best in 2025, it is Surrey who are most fancied to regain their crown at 7/4.

Their squad, very much spearheaded by captain Rory Burns and fellow opener Dom Sibley, is littered with experience, quality and overseas flair that makes them a feared outfit in the county game.

Although they were beaten to the title by Nottinghamshire last season, the market expects Somerset (9/2) to pose the biggest title threat.

Often the bridesmaid in this competition - six runner-up finishes since the turn of the century - the likes of Lewis Gregory, James Rew and Jack Leach have the quality to end their barren spell.

Following a turbulent time off the pitch, Sussex (16/1) will begin the season with a 12-point deduction but have a setup more than capable of overturning that fairly quickly.

Ollie Robinson has been given the captaincy and with what looks like a make-or-break summer ahead of him with regard to his England future, he will be keen to make an impression before the beginning of the Test summer.
