The Cincinnati Open is the final Masters 1000 event before the concluding Grand Slam of the season, the US Open.
Taking place in the middle of August, the tournament is played on the outdoor hard courts at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
Roger Federer is the most dominant player in Cincinnati Open history with seven titles, but the Ohio event has witnessed Novak Djokovic make history on two occasions as he became the first player to win the Golden Masters (win all ATP Masters 1000 events) in The Queen City before repeating the feat in 2020.
Since returning to the WTA calendar in 2004, the Cincinnati Open has produced 20 different female winners, with only Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka winning the tournament more than once.
The current singles champions as of 2025 are Carlos Alcaraz and Iga Świątek.
As a Masters 1000 event, the Cincinnati Open boasts a lucrative prize pot.
For competitors in the ATP, the event has announced a prize money total of US $9,415,725 for the 2026 edition. The winner will receive $1,151,380, which is $40 less than what the Canadian Open champion will receive.
A total of US $7,433,076 is available in prize money for WTA competitors, which is a 44.26% increase from the previous year.
