Leicester U21 forward Kirsten Otchere has joined Cheltenham Town on a season-long loan.
The 19-year-old has enjoyed a prolific preseason for the Foxes, netting against Cadiz, Burton and Bristol Rovers, as well as helping himself to a brace of assists in a 3-0 victory over Northampton.
His Premier League 2 record also makes for encouraging reading from a Cheltenham perspective. In 13 starts last season, Otchere helped himself to nine goals, helping Leicester to reach the playoffs where they were eventually defeated by Tottenham.
With Russell Martin's men expected to challenge for the League One title this campaign, they have allowed Otchere to gain valuable experience in the fourth tier.
The promising striker becomes Cheltenham's first loan signing of the summer, ahead of their competitive curtain raiser against Charlton Athletic in the EFL Cup on Saturday 8th August.
Despite the lack of temporary additions, Steve Cotterill has been busy adding to his squad in recent months with six players arriving on permanent deals. Charlie McCann, Jordan Shipley, Pierce Sweeny, Shaun McWilliams, Wyll Stanway and Joe Tomlinson have all made their way to Whaddon Road ahead of the new campaign.
Cheltenham are among the favourites to suffer the drop to the National League and Cotterill is hoping that his quality can help the Robins preserve their football league status.
"Kirsten is a player with a lot of potential and we're pleased to bring him to the club," Cotterill told Gloucestershire Live.
"He's hungry to learn, works hard and possesses qualities that we believe will strengthen our attacking options and we're looking forward to helping him develop during his time with us."
Cheltenham's League Two opener comes against recently-relegated Rotherham, where they are 17/10 to make a winning start to the season on their own patch.
