Invincible Chelsea break Women's Super League points record

Chelsea Women have set a new Women's Super League points record after becoming the first team to go undefeated in a 22-match campaign.

A stylish finish from academy graduate Aggie Beever-Jones in stoppage time saw Chelsea become the first team to reach the 60-point mark with a 1-0 success over Liverpool Women at Stamford Bridge.

The result saw the Blues surpass the previous record of 58 points which they set in 2022/23.

Not only did Sonia Bampastor's side break the points record, but the eight-time WSL champions completed the entire 2024/25 campaign unbeaten.

Only Arsenal (2012), Manchester City (2016) and Chelsea (2017-18), had gone full seasons without defeat previously, but Chelsea are the first to emerge unscathed during a 22-game WSL campaign.

The final day win over Liverpool was Chelsea's 19th league win in a remarkable debut term for manager Bompastor, who's made a seamless transition into the Blues hotseat upon succeeding club legend Emma Hayes.

Chelsea wrapped up the WSL title with two games to spare and are still in the hunt for a historic Treble after landing the Women's League Cup in March with a 2-1 victory over Manchester City at Pride Park.

The final piece of the jigsaw is the FA Cup final where Manchester United await at Wembley.

"In the men's game when the team has achieved that [going undefeated], they have stayed in history," Bompastor told the BBC. "I think about Arsenal's men's team when they went invincible, people always talk about it.

"When you have this opportunity, to be that close to making history, you have to do it because it will stay forever.

"Even for your kids later to have this history to tell to other people will be nice."
