View the full list of every individual to be named Championship Player of the Year since the inaugural EFL Awards in 2006.
While strikers have dominated the award since it was first launched, the maiden ceremony saw central defender Phil Jagielka named Player of the Season following an outstanding 2005/06 campaign with Sheffield United.
Ryan Sessegnon is the only other defender to receive the prestigious accolade, while midfielders in the shape of Jason Koumas, Kevin Nolan, Adel Taarabt and Emiliano Buendia have bucked the striker trend over the previous two decades.
No player has won the award twice, but in terms of clubs, Middlesbrough have had the most Championship Player of the Year winners: Patrick Bamford in 2015, Chuba Akpom in 2023 and Hayden Hackney in 2026.
West Brom had winners of the award in back-to-back years as Jason Koumas triumphed in 2007 and veteran striker Kevin Phillips claimed the gong in 2008.
There was very little competition in 2011 as Adel Taarabt produced arguably one of the greatest individual seasons in the second tier, scoring 19 goals and registering 21 assists as Queens Park Rangers won the Championship title under Neil Warnock.
The same can be said in 2022 as Aleksandar Mitrovic scored a Championship record 43 goals in 44 appearances as Fulham stormed to the league title.
