Scottish Premiership teams are renowned for spending less than top-flight English clubs, but Glasgow giants Celtic are amongst Scotland's biggest spenders.
Rangers' 2000 addition of Tore Andre Flo remains the record signing in Scottish Premiership history -- joining the Glasgow-based outfit for €18m in 2000 -- but of the most expensive arrivals in the division, six have been made by Celtic.
We take a look at the Hoops' top five record transfers.
Kasper Hogh - £11m
Bodo/Glimt -> Celtic
Kasper Hogh's £11m switch from Bodo/Glimt to Celtic makes him the club's joint-most expensive signing -- alongside Arne Engels -- but with add-ons the Danish centre forward will become the outright club-record acquisition.
The Hoops' interest in the 25-year-old dates back to January 2026, and while the striker opted against leaving Norway to focus on Bodo's 2025/26 UEFA Champions League campaign, he eventually made the switch to Glasgow on 28th July -- less than a week before the 2026/27 Scottish Premiership season commences.
Arne Engels - £11m
FC Augsburg -> Celtic
Arne Engels became Celtic's most expensive signing in history when trading FC Augsburg for the Bhoys in a deal worth £11m in 2024.
The versatile Belgian has played a crucial role in back-to-back top-flight successes since arriving, scoring 13 goals and recording seven assists in 55 pre-split Scottish Premiership games.
Adam Idah - £9.5m
Norwich City -> Celtic
After impressing on loan at Celtic Park in the second half of the 2023/24 campaign, Celtic pulled the trigger on Adam Idah, signing the Irishman for £9m.
While he by no means disgraced himself in his first full season at the club -- scoring 20 goals in 53 games in the 2024/25 term -- the Hoops opted to cut their losses on the striker just a year later, selling the centre forward to Swansea City in a deal worth £6m.
Odsonne Edouard - £9m
Paris Saint-Germain -> Celtic
Signing permanently from Paris Saint-Germain for £9m in June of 2018 after a loan spell the season prior, Odsonne Edouard became quite the fan favourite amongst Celtic fans in Glasgow.
Prolific in front of goal with a knack for impressing against Old Firm rivals Rangers, there was a sense of despair when the Frenchman made the switch to Crystal Palace in 2021, but the Bhoys made a £5m profit on Edouard and enjoyed the best years of the striker.
Jota - £9m
Rennes -> Celtic
Jota was amongst the club's most expensive signings when he joined for £6.5m from Benfica in 2022, but he surpassed himself in the standings when returning to the club in a deal worth £9m in January 2025.
His second spell at the club has been seriously impacted by injury however, missing the entirety of the 2025/26 season with cruciate ligament damage.
