Celtic have opened talks with Eliteserien outfit Bodo/Glimt over the signing of Danish striker Kasper Hogh, according to a report.
Martin O'Neill's Bhoys are in the market for a new forward this summer with versatile winger Daizen Maeda on the verge of departing Celtic Park to join Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town.
A £10million fee has been agreed for Maeda, of which Celtic will receive an initial £8m, and the Scottish Premiership champions are expected to reinvest a significant portion of Maeda's sale into replenishing their attacking department.
According to Sky Scotland, Celtic have commenced negotiations with Bodo/Glimt over a deal for Hogh, who has two-and-a-half years left on his current contract.
Celtic were linked with Hogh during the January transfer window when Bodo/Glimt received a £6.9m bid from Championship outfit Norwich City for his services.
However, Hogh opted to remain with Kjetil Knutsen's side to feature in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages, a decision that was later vindicated when he scored one and assisted two as Bodo/Glimt stunned Italian champions Inter Milan.
The 25-year-old scored five goals and assisted three in the UEFA Champions League last season, including a brace in a seismic 3-1 victory over Pep Guardiola's Manchester City during the league phase.
Averaging a goal every two games for Bodo/Glimt, Hogh scored 17 goals in 28 Eliteserien appearances last year and has chalked up seven goals and seven assists in 12 appearances this term.
Hogh receieved his first international call-up in March this year when he was named in Brian Riemer's squad for Denmark's World Cup play-off against Macedonia.
Speculation concerning his future has ramped up in recent days after he was left out of Bodo/Glimt's starting XI for their league fixture with HamKam.
Bodo boss Knutsen attempted to play down rumours of Hogh departing following his surprise omission, citing the former AaB and Stabæk man "needed a rest".
While £7m might have been enough to enable Norwich to discuss personal terms with Hogh in January, his stock has only soared in light of his exploits on the continental stage and it might require a substantially higher offer for Celtic to lure him to Glasgow.
Elsewhere, the Hoops are closing in on the signing of Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur in a £4m deal.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Celtic have agreed personal terms with the 22-year-old as the finishing touches to their negotiations with Paderborn are ironed out.
