Manchester United's superb comeback triumph over AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League was tainted slightly by the news of Carlos Baleba's hamstring injury.
The Cameroon international was making his seventh appearance for the Red Devils since his £70million switch from Brighton in the summer.
It was early in the second half at Old Trafford that Baleba made a darting run into the penalty area before suddenly pulling up and clutching the back of his leg before he could get a shot away.
Baleba missed the start of the campaign with an ankle injury he sustained in pre-season and his absence will be a bitter blow for Michael Carrick, who is attempting to revive United's fortunes following a wretched start.
We've assessed the earliest date Baleba could return to action following his injury prognosis.
Baleba is set to miss several weeks with the hamstring injury he sustained against Roma.
Speaking in his Aston Villa pre-match press conference, Carrick said: “Carlos we don’t know exactly [the severity], but it’ll be a number of weeks yet.
“Definitely not this week and not over the international break, it will be a little bit longer yet.”
With Carrick confirming he won't be in action directly after the international break, Baleba is set to miss the Premier League fixture against Liverpool and the UEFA Champions League contest against Sporting CP, as well as the upcoming fixture against Villa.
United have one more fixture in November against Brentford before a congested December period which will see Carrick's side face Newcastle United, Coventry City, RB Leipzig, and Crystal Palace in an 11-day stretch.
Baleba could be out until Christmas, with uncertainty concerning his availability for the trip to Arsenal on 20th December.
