Two Championships sides are plotting moves for an Estonian international midfielder, who plies his trade in the Norwegian Eliteserien, during the summer transfer window.
Recently promoted Cardiff City are one of the clubs mentioned, with Brian Barry-Murphy's men seeking summer reinforcements ahead of their return to the Championship next season.
Also in the hunt are Millwall, who enjoyed a fruitful campaign last term, reaching the play-offs before losing out to eventual winners Hull.
According to reports in the German press, both Cardiff and Millwall have already opened negotiations with Norwegian outfit Fredrikstad, with 22-year-old Rocco Shein the focus of those talks.
The Estonia international midfielder has started every league fixture for his club in the new Eliteserien season, scoring twice and providing one assist in 11 games in the Norwegian top tier, including wearing the captains armband twice.
Standing at 6ft 1in, Shein would likely be able to adapt to the physical demands of a season in the EFL Championship, and his performances for club and country have drawn numerous admirers in recent months.
Shein has been well travlled already in his career, despite his youth, turning out for boyhood club Flora in Estonia and Dutch sides Utrecht and Dordrecht, alongside current club Fredrikstad.
Any potential deal for the 22-year-old is unlikely to be a cheap one however, Shein joined Fredrikstad for around £700k just last summer and has three years remaining on his contract in Norway.
Valuations in the range of £2.5m - £4m have been touted, a figure that would likely be affordable for both Cardiff and Millwall.
